Information you choose to send us
Handyland may receive information you submit through the website, such as your name, email address, contact-form message, an email address used with the “Save My Handyland” planning feature, or details you choose to share for early access, day-use experiences, photography or creator access, private-use requests, retreats, partner inquiries, and similar visits. Those details may include ZIP code, group size, travel context, preferred date or timing, experience interests, price comfort, and overnight interest.
Saved Handyland plans
If you ask Handyland to email you an Almanac or personalized trip plan, we use the email address you provide to deliver that requested planning link. We may also retain the saved-plan record, including the planning link and related trip details, so the site can operate the feature and measure whether it is useful.
When you build a trip with dates, the browser may also keep that plan on your device, including selected ideas, day assignments, group size and stay choice. My Handyland uses it to continue the same planning journey before and after the visit. Clearing browser storage or using another device can remove that local plan; the saved planning link remains a separate way to reopen it. A planning link does not confirm a reservation.
Sending yourself a Handyland plan does not subscribe you to marketing emails. The Save My Handyland form may offer a separate, optional checkbox for occasional Handyland ideas, seasonal reasons to come, new experiences, or early-access updates. That box is unchecked by default. If you choose it, Handyland may retain the date and source of that consent separately from the transactional saved-plan record. You may opt out of future marketing messages at any time through the Email Preferences page or the opt-out method included with any future marketing email.
How information is used
Information submitted to Handyland may be used to respond to inquiries, evaluate or coordinate requested stays and experiences, deliver features you request, operate and improve the website, understand how visitors use planning and booking tools, maintain the property schedule, and protect the security and reliability of the site.
Analytics and technical information
The site may record technical and interaction information such as page views, feature use, trip-planner completion, saved-plan activity, inquiry conversions, and outbound booking clicks. Public communication features may also use a short, non-reversible request fingerprint for abuse prevention and rate limiting. This helps Handyland understand which parts of the website are useful, protect public forms, and improve the experience.
Field Hunt progress
If the Lost Treasure of Handyland Field Hunt is active, the guest Fieldbook stores found Field Marks in local browser storage on that device. Handyland does not require an account to keep that progress. Clearing browser storage, changing devices, or resetting the Fieldbook can remove the locally stored progress.
Handyland Passport
If you use the Handyland Passport, earned marks, Atlas progress, and related progress data are stored locally in browser storage on that device. The Passport does not require an account. Clearing browser storage, changing devices, or resetting the Passport can remove that progress.
Together Mode
Together Mode stores the current group board locally on the device. If you choose to create or share a Together Mode link, the nicknames and selected Handyland priorities shown on that board are encoded in the shareable URL so another person with the link can open the same board.
Anyone who receives that share link can see the board information in it, so use first names, initials, or nicknames you are comfortable sharing. Handyland does not require an account or email address to use Together Mode.
Handyland Postcard
The Handyland Postcard uses the saved Handyland plan, device-local Passport progress, and an optional short memory note stored in browser storage on that device. If you choose to share a Postcard, the dates, stay identifier, selected Passport marks, and any note you chose to include may be encoded into the shareable Postcard link.
Anyone who receives that link can view the Postcard information contained in it. Do not include anything in the optional Postcard note that you would not want the recipient of the link to read.
The Handyland Chronicle
If Chronicle submissions are enabled, a guest may send a memory or Field Note into a private owner-review inbox. Submitted notes are not published automatically. If an email address is provided, it is stored privately with the submission only so Handyland may contact the guest about that note.
Public Chronicle entries are created separately by the Handyland owner after review. A guest can choose whether Handyland may consider the note for public publication. Contact email addresses and request-security fingerprints are never copied into public Chronicle entries.
Service providers and booking platforms
Handyland uses technology providers to operate this website and its requested features. When you follow a booking link to a third-party platform such as Airbnb or Hipcamp, that platform handles information under its own privacy practices and terms.
Sale of personal information
Handyland does not sell personal information to advertisers.
